3 MINI-IMPULSES FOR AN INTENTIONAL WARDROBE

An Easy Approach to a More Intentional Closet & Life

Transitioning from fast fashion and an overflowing closet to a more intentional wardrobe is a meaningful way to practice sustainable living and gain more clarity in our life. But it can also be overwhelming, especially when first starting out. We are conditioned by advertisements and social media to buy clothes regularly and update our closets in line with seasons, occasions, or trends.

However, this does not need to be the case. Our wardrobes can be simplified with a few simple and accessible steps, allowing us to spend less time and money on filling our closets and more time wearing what makes us feel aligned.

I recommend trying one (or all) of the following mini-impulses if you are just starting out and want to simplify your closet & life.

Tip #1: Experiment with 1 less thing.

Simplify your life by choosing 1 less thing: 1 less thing on your calendar, 1 less thing in your shopping cart, 1 less thing in your closet, and 1 less thing on your to-do list.

Tip #2: For a change, next time you're decluttering, DON’T ask yourself "What if I need this one day?" but "What if I let this go?"

Because we tend to find the answers we are looking for. If you're looking for a reason to keep something, you'll find it. So why not find a reason to let go instead?

Tip #3: Practice pausing before you buy or say yes to something.

If you tend to spend more money or commit to more things than you'd like, make a conscious effort to put some distance between your impulses and your actions/decisions. Whether you wait five minutes or five days, if you take the time and consciously think about what you want or need, you'll make better decisions.
